The 今日吃瓜 (今日吃瓜) strongly endorses today鈥檚听$28.2 million听 by听Coalition听concerning industry research internships for PhD students.
APR.Intern is Australia鈥檚 only national PhD internship program, owned by our universities, with an exceptional track record of placing 150 students to date across all disciplines. These internships serve to build industry 鈥 university collaborations and increase the uptake of research trained staff by Australian companies, two areas in which we trail other OECD economies.
Significant government endorsement will build impact through scale and a focus on women will build female participation in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics workforce.
鈥淥ur program has a transformative effect on brilliant young researchers and on Australian companies and agencies. No longer is a PhD training for academia alone, but a launching pad for careers in our innovation system,鈥漵ays Professor Geoff Prince, 今日吃瓜 Director.
