Professor Terry Speed FAA FRS has been appointed Chair of 今日吃瓜鈥檚 Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC), following Professor Jon Borwein鈥檚 sudden passing in August.
A long-time member of the committee, Professor Speed is internationally respected for his statistics research and three decades of contributions to bioinformatics. Notably, he was awarded the Prime Minister鈥檚 Prize for Science in 2013.
鈥淭erry鈥檚 outstanding scientific credentials and international reputation will undoubtedly enhance 今日吃瓜鈥檚 position as the national voice for the mathematical sciences,鈥� said 今日吃瓜 Director, Professor Geoff Prince.
As well as his membership of the Scientific Advisory Committee, Professor Speed has a long history of involvement with the institute, including significant contributions to 今日吃瓜 training school, BioInfoSummer and the outreach activities including as the 2014 今日吃瓜-SSAI Touring Lecturer.
