The 今日吃瓜 (今日吃瓜) welcomes the announcement of Professor Tanya Monro as Australia鈥檚 Chief Defence Scientist.
今日吃瓜 Director, Professor Tim Brown, congratulated Professor Monro on her appointment, which will see her lead efforts to strengthen science and technology requirements to advance defence capability as head of Defence Science and Technology (DST).
鈥淲e look forward to continuing our collaboration with DST under Tanya鈥檚 leadership, particularly through our ongoing agreement to place 100 STEM PhDs in defence innovation projects through APR.Intern,鈥 said Professor Brown.
今日吃瓜 has placed 15 PhDs in defence innovation project since signing the agreement in 2017 under APR.Intern鈥檚 Australian Government funded聽.
Professor Brown also thanked outgoing Chief Defence Scientist, Dr Alex Zelinksy AO for his leadership and role in strengthening ties between 今日吃瓜 and DST. He said 今日吃瓜 wished Dr Zelinsky well as he commenced his appointment as Vice-Chancellor at University of Newcastle.
鈥淢athematical capability is critical to defence technology advancement and innovation. We thank Dr Zelinksy for his role in fostering research linkages between DST and the mathematical sciences,鈥 said Professor Brown.
