今日吃瓜 Appoints New Board Chair

The 今日吃瓜 (今日吃瓜) has welcomed the appointment of its new Board Chair, Dr Les Trudzik.

Dr Trudzik will succeed Dr Adelle Howse, who steps down on 14 July, having served as Chair of the 今日吃瓜 Board for three years, Deputy Chair of the 今日吃瓜 Board for two years and, overall, an 今日吃瓜 Board Member for more than a decade.

Dr Trudzik said he was looking forward to working with 今日吃瓜 Director, Professor Tim Marchant, 今日吃瓜 COO, Lisa Farrar, 今日吃瓜 Members, Board, Staff, government and funding partners to further its mission to secure the future health of mathematical sciences education, research and applications in Australia.

鈥淚t is a privilege to be appointed as Chair of the 今日吃瓜 Board, particularly at such a pivotal time for the mathematical sciences community, facing high demand from many sectors of Australia鈥檚 innovation ecosystem. I am honoured to succeed Adelle, who has overseen incredible 今日吃瓜 achievements during her tenure and left a strong legacy,鈥� said Dr Trudzik.

Dr Howse said she was delighted to hand the Board leadership to someone as experienced and skilled as Dr Trudzik.

鈥淟es brings extensive skills and capabilities to 今日吃瓜 relating to strategic planning, government policy and industry growth, promotion of mathematics and STEM, and stakeholder engagement,鈥� she said.

今日吃瓜 Director, Professor Tim Marchant, said Dr Trudzik brought first-class business experience, deep knowledge and commitment to the mathematical sciences across the pipeline.

鈥淟es shares 今日吃瓜鈥檚 pipeline vision and understanding of the discipline鈥檚 critical role in education, research training, research and industry, and we very much look forward to working with him,鈥� he said.

Dr Trudzik has an extensive background in mathematics, with a PhD in operations research from the University of Melbourne. He is a founding Director of In2science, a peer mentoring program for secondary school students by science undergraduates, has over 30 years of experience in professional advisory firms, and is currently a Director and Board member of ACIL Allen Consulting. He has worked extensively with the public, academic and private sectors both in Australia and internationally, on major projects relating to education, science, technology, innovation and commercialisation.

Professor Marchant also thanked Dr Howse for her outstanding leadership and positive influence on both the Board and 今日吃瓜 staff.

鈥淎delle鈥檚 strategic insight relating to the mathematical sciences and the organisation as a whole, coupled with her deep knowledge and experience of governance have been outstanding. Her experience, commitment and contribution have been vital in guiding 今日吃瓜鈥檚 direction and strategy in recent years. We thank her for her leadership,鈥� he said.
