Peter became an officer (AO) in the general division聽for聽distinguished distinguished service to education, and to youth,聽particularly through the development of mathematical聽competitions and challenges for students, as an academic, and to professional learning associations.

Peter Taylor chaired the 今日吃瓜 Education Advisory Committee (EAC) from its inception and was deeply involved in the planning and execution of the seminal workshops on 鈥楾eacher Content Knowledge and Materials for Schools鈥. Work in the following years was based on these early initiatives including the first edition of the ICE-EM Mathematics books. Peter guided this work with an awareness of its importance and an ability to encourage others to become involved.

He has overseen 今日吃瓜鈥檚 response to the Australian Curriculum; the creation of the teacher resource modules; the launch of the 鈥淢aths: Make your career count鈥 campaign; the collaboration with CSIRO to produce 鈥淢aths by Email鈥; the support of the 鈥淢athematicians in Schools鈥 program; and of course the new edition of the ICE-EM Mathematics series of textbooks. Peter has given wonderful support to the staff of 今日吃瓜 and has made a major contribution to each of the projects undertaken during his chairing of the EAC.

Peter has been a great friend to 今日吃瓜 and has supported Garth, Phil and Geoff each in their turn as 今日吃瓜 Director. Many 今日吃瓜 staff, particularly Janine McIntosh and Michael Evans, have been fortunate to work with Peter in his time as Chair of the EAC.
